Tonal Readiness-First Pitch

Before you start building your tonal vocabulary, there are a two tonal readiness tools we will use to jump-start your audiation: first pitch and resting tone

In the First Pitch exercises, you will listen to a short series of patterns and then sing only the first pitch of the pattern you hear on the neutral syllable BUM. This forces your musical mind to retain a pitch in your audiation and ignore the rest. You will do one exercise in major and another in minor.

All of these exercises are also offered in an alternate cambiata key in The Choral Musician digital workbook series. Click here to find out more about this series.
