Tonal Readiness-First Pitch

Before you start building your tonal vocabulary, there are a two tonal readiness tools we will use to jump-start your audiation: first pitch and resting tone

In the First Pitch exercises, you will listen to a short series of patterns and then sing only the first pitch of the pattern you hear on the neutral syllable BUM. This forces your musical mind to retain a pitch in your audiation and ignore the rest. You will do one exercise in major and another in minor.
