In the Resting Tone exercises, you will listen to a short series of patterns and then sing only the resting tone of the pattern you hear on the neutral syllable BUM. This forces your musical mind to provide an immediate sense of context to the pattern you hear. Everything we do tonally in music is always in relation to the sense of home in a tonality. You will do one exercise in major and another in minor.
