“Chucka Chucka Wawa” was originally conceived as a listening album for infants and todlers. In its original form, it is a unique listening experience in that is contains 10 songs in varied tonalities and meters. The research of Dr. Edwin E. Gordon of Music Learning Theory fame suggests that the more variety of tonalities and meters a child hears when he or she is young, the greater tyheir capacity to learn music when they are an adult.
“Chucka Chucka Wawa” has been met with praise from parents and teachers alike.
Several piano teachers, who use the album as listening activities for their students, were curious if I had sheet music. Those requests inspired this project.
Each of the 10 songs on the album is presented in two ways. First, an easy version of the tune is presented. This is a skeletal arrangement. I also present a second version of the tune. Sometimes it is a more difficult version with additional voices or technical challenges. Sometimes it is a two-piano version meant to be played on two pianos. Sometimes it is a four-hands version meant to be played on the same instrument.
I hope you enjoy the arrangements of these tunes!
