  • Directions: Listen to a series of patterns. Sing the first pitch of the pattern you hear on “BUM”.

  • Directions: Listen to a series of patterns. Sing the resting tone of the pattern you hear on “BUM”.

  • Tonality: Major
  • Skill Level: Aural/Oral
  • Directions: Listen to a series of familiar I/V Chord patterns. Echo the whole pattern on “BUM”.

Lesson 4

  • Tonality: Minor
  • Skill Level: Aural/Oral
  • Directions: Listen to a series of patterns. Sing the first pitch of the pattern you hear on “BUM”.

Lesson 5

  • Tonality: Minor
  • Skill Level: Aural/Oral
  • Directions: Listen to a series of patterns. Sing the first pitch of the resting tone of the pattern you hear on “BUM”.

Lesson 6

  • Tonality: Minor
  • Skill Level: Aural/Oral
  • Directions: Listen to a series of familiar i/V Chord patterns. Echo the whole pattern on “BUM”.

  • Outcomes: 1. Label the resting tone in major as DO. 2. Label I/V Chord patterns.

Andrew Mullen is a teacher, folk musician, multi-instrumentalist, song-writer, and lifelong learner. He has taught all levels of students in a number of subjects, and is currently a middle school teacher and curriculum coach in Burlington, Massachusetts. Mr Mullen holds Masters degrees in Music Education and School Administration, as well as certification from the Gordon Institute of Music Learning (GIML) in Elementary General and Early Childhood Music. He is currently entertaining Doctoral scholarships.
